Make sexual assault a problem men feel compelled to talk about with one another, and incentivize “bros” to be vocal advocates of the cause. The campaign should find a way to make an informative statement that gets men talking and/or get involved. The tone and medium must be clever to reach this objective.

Becoming an Ally
There is no question about society’s evident sexism and sexual assault dilemma, the recent #MeToo Movement helped catapult the issue into mainstream conversation.
For this project, my partner and I wanted to tackle the problem at the root. We believe educating boys in a comprehendible way before they are nurtured into those toxic traits is a fundamental step in the right direction.
We want to introduce the topic in a safe/healthy environment using The Boys & Girls Clubs of America as an outlet. The organization would create subsidiary group, called "We Can Be the Solution," to develop a workshop program and promotional campaign that directly tackles education on sexual assault/violence.
We don’t want to just pound information into these boys, we also want to open the discussion and have real talks that spark thought provoking questions from them. It’s one thing to give a boring lecture, people connect more when they are proactive and involved in the material.
Boys at this age are growing into young men, they’re just discovering their sexuality and awakening to the differences between men and women. We are not absolving men from their actions, it takes time and responsibility for change to happen. To eventually overturn our society, an entire generation of boys must lead this societal shift.
The Boys & Girls Club is trying to help by promoting this campaign so the new generation of young men understand how they can be the solution.
We decided the subsidiary group, campaign title, and main tagline would be: We Can Be the Solution.
The term “We,” because it’s a collective group effort directed specifically at the boys, and the following phrase to emphasize the opportunity for change – a means to a solution.

Teal is the official color for Sexual Assault + Sexual Violence Awareness
Symbolism is heavily used throughout the promotional visuals for this workshop
I like to portray the duality of symbolic meanings
ROPES can both hold you up or tie you down (is also a tool that can be used in violent acts)
SNAKES posses both good & evil interpretations
The Rope represents how women are bound to the whims of men — reducing their own agency.
While men are tethered to traditional toxic-masculine expectations inflicted upon them by society
Notoriously, snakes are perceived as evil in western cultures (Adam & Eve):
Snakes actually hold numerous benevolent meanings in different cultures and religions:
(ie. fertility, umbilical cords)

Kids love free stuff!
And cool merch they can wear is even better
Promotes the cause and makes for a great conversation starter! Helps get more peers educated
The workshop would offer a comfortable, safe environment to learn and interact with concepts surrounding sexism/sexual assault and violence. By doing so around peers of the same age, it helps lessen the stigma and open the floor to more honest discussions in a healthy, safe space.
